Just a girl who loves turtles...

It occurred to me that while I create different things to sell I have turtles and the beach all over my website and haven’t explained why. One of the first things I made was a reusable market bag. I made it because I wanted to start using them instead of plastic grocery bags. For as long as I can remember I’ve loved sea turtles, growing up on the coast in Central Florida there was no shortage of marine life. By my early 20’s I had an affinity to the sea turtle more than any other creature.

Once I started knitting a goal was to be able to create a market bag. I’m not a tree hugger by any stretch of the imagination but I’m also not so naive to think that the human race isn’t causing serious damage to the Earth. I’ve seen the effects plastic can have on marine life and want to do what I can to minimize that, however small that may be.

I’m convinced sea turtles are my spirit ‘animal’ (I know they’re reptiles and not animals). Seeing them calms me, watching them puts me at ease. They’re majestic, their grace and gentle nature speak to me. So, that is why my site and business are littered with sea turtles. I think we all could learn something from these amazing creatures.
